What is YÖS?

What is YÖS? , YÖS is The University Entry Test for foreign students who want to study in Turkey.
With the decision taken in 2011 by Turkey government each university organizes the YÖS exam separately itself.

WHO CAN APPLY TO YÖS?

1- Foreign students who want to study in Turkey,
2-Students who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey and have completed all their high school education in any other country than Turkey.
3-Students with dual citizenship, in chase one is Turkey nationality, can take this exam.

WHO CANNOT APPLY TO YÖS?

1- Those who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey and complete their high school education in Turkey
2-Those who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,and study there
3-Those whose education was terminated from universities of Turkey due to disciplinary crime,
4-Those who were found to have committed a defect during the YÖS exam they attended in the previous years
5- Students who have benefited from scholarships or higher education opportunities given by the government to foreign governments,

What are the ways of entering to universities

There are three ways for getting acceptance of Turkish universities
1-Yös exam results
2-SAT exam results
3- High school diploma

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF ENTERING UNIVERSITIES IN TURKEY WITH HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA?

With a high school diploma, you can enter most universities in Turkey (If these universities open quotas for high school diplomas)
There is no YÖS requirement in private universities. 95% accept the student for associate and undergraduate education with a high school diploma. Also, some private universities provide scholarship opportunities to students by making YÖS.

IS THERE ANY AGE LIMIT TO ENTER OR PARTICIPATE IN YÖS TEST?

NO. There is no age restriction in either participation in this exam or applying.
WHICH UNIVERSITIES TAKE STUDENTS WITH YÖS?
However most universities organize YÖS themselves , they also accept YÖS marks given by other universities. For example; Cumhuriyet University accept its own marks and YÖS results which is organized by Istanbul University.

WHICH COUNTRIES APPLY TO YÖS THE MOST?

It can change every year; but generally , candidates with passports from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Germany, Iran, Greece, Afghanistan and Bulgaria are mostly participating .

HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU ENTER YÖS? ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON THIS?

NO, there are no limitations. On the contrary, if they participate to more YÖS exams, the chances of getting haigh marks will be more for them. In addition, taking many exams does not affect YÖS scores from other universities.

CAN AN EDUCATION BE TAKEN OUTSIDE OF UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION IN UNIVERSITIES IN TURKEY WITH YÖS?

YÖS is an exam only for associate and undergraduate degrees . YÖS marks cannot be used for getting acceptance to do Master's or Doctorate.

WHEN DO YÖS APPLICATIONS START?

Generally , it starts in January and ends in May; but since universities vary in this regard, it would not be correct to set an exact date.

HOW MUCH IS YÖS APPLICATION FEE?

Since each university organizes the YÖS exams itself, the application fee also varies; but if we specify an average amount, we can say 300-800 Tl .
WHAT IS THE YÖS EXAM ABOUT ?
WHAT IS THE YÖS TEST ABOUT?
İt consist of two parts
Under the name of the basic learning skills test;
40-45 questions General Ability (IQ)
30-35 questions Mathematics
5-10 questions Geometry

WHAT IS THE CONTENT OF THE GENERAL ABILITY (IQ) QUESTIONS ASKED IN YÖS?

There are 2 types of question : Numerical ability and Shape Ability.
It is very difficult for a student who does not have a mathematical basis to solve questions that especially require numerical ability.

WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE WITH YOU WHEN TAKING THE EXAM?

Exam entrance document
Passport and identity document
GENERALLY, WHERE ARE THE EXAM CENTERS OF UNIVERSITIES? As every university conducts exams in its province, they can also do YÖS in main exam centers such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. In addition, students can choose the exam centers themselves

WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE REQUESTED FOR APPLYING TO UNIVERSITIES?

the required documents:
1-Photo
2-Translated and approved copy of the candidate's high school diploma into Turkish or English
3-Translated and approved copy of transcript
4-Equivalence certificate showing that the candidate's diploma graduated from a school equivalent to Turkish high schools.
